Defining and applying a new face to the Backbase demo products

The Client

Backbase provides a leading digital-first banking platform that accelerates digital transformation for banks worldwide.

As the principle designer in the sales team, I had the pleasure of leading the new creative direction of the demo products interfaces, and the implementation of features. The pace was fast, the field was open, and the talented team I created with and mentored were a joy to work with.nd implementation of the designs and features for the Backbase demo products.

The Brief

At Backbase it was imperative our demo products were of high visual caliber and provided seamless experiences using the latest technology. We incorporated compelling storytelling into the primary features, so that our clients understood the big-picture impact our products have on the life of their own customers.

A flagship (and wonderfully challenging / creative) project was to take what were previously silo-ed products and redefine the visual style to be applied across the 4 major lines - Retail, Business, Wealth and Back Office.

The Solution

Working with the team and key stakeholders, I identified a visual North Star, and built upon the existing Backbase Design System to create a new visual landscape through templates, guidelines and a multi-level component library. By providing clear guidelines and regular creative reviews to the team, we were able to collectively roll out the new style across the existing material.

The result

The result is a cohesive collection of stylised products that scintillate in our demos and presentations worldwide. The added bonus is that the styles and approach are also utilised by Product Marketing and Marketing teams to ensure consistency in our brand communications. 18 months later and the style is still living on strong 🎉
